What’s new in AYON: Winter 24/25

Winter-25-update-ayon

As we step into Spring, we’ve rounded up all the updates we rolled out over Winter to make production tracking smoother and more efficient. We work closely with creative studios to continuously refine production tracking and optimise workflows. Our latest Winter 24/25 update introduces new features, improved project access, and expanded deployment options, making it easier than ever to integrate AYON into your pipeline.

Whether you’re an existing user or considering AYON for the first time, these updates offer improvements to efficiency and collaboration.

PowerPack Addon: Unlocking Advanced Features

We’re excited to introduce the PowerPack Addon, designed exclusively for AYON subscribers. This addon brings advanced Power Features that elevate production tracking and collaboration.

Annotations

A long-awaited feature, Annotations allow you to:

  • Mark up any frame of a video or image
  • Adjust brush size and erase with a simple right-click
  • Choose from preset colors, custom shades, or use the eyedropper tool
  • Full keyboard support for hotkeys and easy markup
  • Supports 4K video and 6K images.
Task Progress Slicer

The Slicer is a game-changer for data exploration. It lets you filter attributes on the fly without altering existing filters, making it faster and more flexible. Slice by:

  • Hierarchy
  • Assignee
  • Status
  • Task type

The
PowerPack Addon is available for all AYON subscribers and can be downloaded directly from the Market page (requires AYON 1.7.0 or higher)

Granular Project Access & Permissions

Managing user access is now more intuitive than ever with two key improvements:

Improved Project Management Permissions

Studios can now grant users granular access to project settings on a per-project basis. For example, a production coordinator could be allowed to manage user access for a specific project without the ability to modify anatomy or addon settings. This flexibility ensures better security while giving the right people the right tools.

New Project Access Page

We’ve redesigned the Project Access page in project settings, making it easier to manage user permissions and assign access groups. This streamlined approach removes friction when onboarding new team members and adjusting permissions.

Early preview of the Planner addon

A visual planner is an essential part of managing complex productions, giving teams a high-level view of projects, timelines, and resources. Our Planner Addon is in early preview, representing the first steps in bringing broad-stroke planning tools directly into AYON.

In this release, we’ve focused on usability improvements based on early feedback, such as support for multi-selection editing, better color mapping from project tracks, and clearer event displays. While still a work in progress, the Planner is evolving quickly, and we welcome your feedback as we shape it further.

Introducing Market Release Bundles

Setting up your AYON pipeline is now easier than ever. The new
Market Release Bundles allow you to install the latest tested release directly from the marketplace. Each bundle includes:

  • Addons
  • Dependency packages
  • Desktop launchers

These pre-tested bundles ensure full compatibility across tools tailored for different production tracking needs.

Subscribers also gain access to all previous release bundles, giving studios more control over versioning and compatibility. This feature is part of our Power Features initiative, aimed at providing advanced tools for studios that demand more from their pipeline.
