Updates to AYON pricing and billing

We’ve offered commercial AYON subscriptions since 2024, gathering valuable feedback from both paying clients and those interested in adopting it. AYON has also evolved significantly as a SaaS product, with the recent addition of a powerful production tracking layer and major improvements in server deployment and management.
Introducing Power Features
We want to provide as much added value to our supporters as possible. With the upcoming version 1.7.0 we’re introducing Power Features – a set of productivity enhancements to all Pro and Studio AYON subscriptions.
Currently, Power Features include:
- Single sign-on
- Multi-view slicer
- Access to all previous pipeline release bundles
- Media annotations.
There will be a few addons with a separate usage based pricing. For example web publisher which will be charged based on the data transferred.
Consistent pricing no matter the deployment
We’re incredibly proud that studios are choosing to host AYON on ynput.cloud, where they can spin up a fully managed server, or more of them, within minutes. Over the past 12 months, ynput.cloud has evolved into a robust platform, making it easier than ever for studios to provide AYON access to their teams.
However, we’ve consistently heard studios running AYON Community on-prem that they would like to explore the commercial features while keeping their existing on-prem setup.
To support these studios, we’re introducing AYON self-hosted subscriptions. If you’re currently running AYON Community on-prem or in a private cloud, you can now unlock premium power features and access enhanced support by subscribing to a commercial plan.
We’re committed to keeping AYON’s pricing fair and consistent – whether in the cloud or on-prem consistent – without imposing a premium for local deployment, which has unfortunately become an industry norm. Self-hosted AYON Pro and Studio plans are priced lower than their cloud counterparts.
For cloud-hosted AYON, we apply a higher base cost for the first 10 users to cover infrastructure and ensure platform stability. In contrast, self-hosted AYON only requires a per-user license, with no cloud-related overhead. Since on-prem deployment bypasses our cloud hosting costs, we pass those savings directly to you.
Expanding with Addons
We’re introducing the ability for studios to access alpha and beta versions of new addons, allowing early adopters to test them and provide feedback. Our goal is to release a new addon each quarter. Planner will be the first, followed by Smart Lists and Review Tools – and that’s just the beginning.
Depending on your subscription plan, you will either have automatic access to all server addons or the flexibility to select only the ones that suit your needs.
Most addons will be available as a flat-rate pricing model of €3 per user per month. You decide how many addons you want and add them to your plan. Within AYON, you can swap out active addons at any time.
Some addons will have usage-based pricing. For example, Web Publisher which will be charged based on the amount of data transferred.
Flexibility and control
We understand that managing multiple productions with different timelines, teams and requirements is complex. That’s why we’re offering flexible subscription options that allow you to mix and match different subscription lengths and billing periods to align with your projects.
For example, a studio with a core team of 25 people running multiple overlapping projects might structure their subscriptions like this:
- AYON Pro (yearly) – 25 users (billing period: Feb‘25 – Jan‘26)
- AYON Pro (quarterly #1) – 15 users (billing period: Mar’25 – May’25 )
- AYON Pro (quarterly #2) – 25 users (billing period: May’25 – Jul’25)
Each of these subscriptions appears as a separate user pool in AYON and can be assigned to accordingly – for example, yearly seats for permanent staff, quarterly for project-based teams.
To accommodate spikes in production, we’re also introducing monthly usage-based seats. In AYON’s user management system, you can assign a “Metered users” pool, which allows you to temporarily expand your team. If a user logs into AYON within a calendar month, you will be charged for them. If they don’t, there’s no cost.
With these updates to AYON’s pricing and billing, we’re giving studios even greater flexibility, ensuring they have the right tools, resources and scalability when they need it most. Whether you’re managing a long-term production or scaling teams for short-term projects, you can now tailor your AYON subscription to fit your schedule, without unnecessary overhead.
